Hello!! My last mission letter. Boo hoo. It{s so weird to think i am leavinggggggggg..

Well let me tell you about my week first. It was a little bit hard beuase we had to go lots of times to the clinic to get a receipt and take that to the offices. They messed everything up but we got it figured out. Then it got cold and rainy like on Thursday.. its still really cold!! Of course, it has to be cold my last days in Santa Cruz. What the heck. not cool. Anyways, so Gabriel actually doesn{t live in our ward. He lives right over the boundary. which stinks but whatever it doesnt count for us but we prepared him and he has to get baptized with the elders. We went with them the other night to intoduce them. I think the elders were really surpised that he is so excited to get baptized!! He had his interview for his baptism and hopefully his baptism will be this wednesday night, but the elders have to ask permission because he didn{t go to his ward yesterday, he went to our ward only becuase it is in the afternoon, and his ward is in the morning and itw as raining in teh morning. yes, that{s an excuse. He has a great testimony. He explained to the elders lots of things taht we taught him, like about the 4 pillars of the church of jesus christ (prophet, 12 apostles, revelation, priesthood). He is sooo ready for baptism. So excited. So happy. Baptisms are the best.

Andres and Milka are in problems. He is 10 years younger than her and his parents are anti mormons. we visited the mom of milka, and she explained us a lot of things. So we will see. We feel bad for the 2 little girls. They are pretty cute.

We are teaching a great family. Familia PIzarro. Roger, Alina, Diego (15), and they have baby twin girls Isabella and Camila. Roger recently had surgery becuase he has problems with his kidneys and cant work now. The twins are 9 months old and soo cute. they were born premature and so they arereally small. Diego is super curious, he says he was baptized in the church but no one else remembers but him! haha. So we will see. they have tons of questions. We watched part of the movie of our heavenly father{s plan with them on sunday. They liked it. When they were asking all their quetions, Gabriel just laughed al ot, because it was hard to explain much, because they just kept laughing. and gabriel was like, i already know, they just have to listen to the hermanas haha. it was funny.

anyways, booo, i hate saying goodbye, i{m gonna miss this place soooo much it has been my home and i will miss the PEOPLE I{ve been writing letters like crazy to people in my past areas to leave to them and thursday i willl get to do some visits with Hna Harman who is also going home. Boooo.... I read Acts 20 and it made me cry...

I feel like Ammon in Alma 26... 26-the end.
REad it and thats exactly what i feel. Change wilderness to Santa Cruz, and verse 29... i have been cast out, and laughed at, and whistled at, and have gotten sick, and taken to the clinic. something like that. i wanted to write it all out but i dont have time.

So.. I{m gonna talk to Presdient {Calderon. If you find anything out, call or write to the offices ASAP. There is a new secretary that is latino, but the assistants are americans and can read english.

SEE YOU SATURDAY!!! WHOA!!!

I love you all!!!!

Love,
Hermana Tibbitts

Hello!!! This week has been good. We have been working hard, and there are tons of challenges, but we just have to keep going.
This week we had a 4 zone conference. It was really great. Presidente Calderon is so great. He teaches us so much. It wasn{t as long as usual so we were happy. At the end I was asked to share my testimony as well as the elders who are finishing our missions, i was happy to do it. After that people started telling me to rest in peace. haha. i sltil have time here!!! but only one more p day. i only have to wash clothes by hand one more time!!!!
Dude, boone, you won all of those? How many other kids went home crying??? Looks like a fun pinewood derby. good job pulling it off.

Well, the work goes forward here in Braniff.
We{re gonna have a baptism!!! if everything goes well, it will be on MAY 2!! It is for Gabriel, he came to church with his friend, girlfriend?? Gabriela, who is a member. He is super great!! He does all of the commitments and he loves the church and is excited for his baptism. We have seen him grow a testimony already as he exercies faith.
Iris and her family are no longer investigating the church :( we went there the other day and basically she pulled out every excuse on us. So we said ok Ciao. Sad stuff.
Andres and Milka are just ok, they still havent set their marriage date, but Andres wants to get baptized. He was telling us about how he was speaking to spirits or something though, some dark stuff, so we are trying to find the way to explain to him that that{s not ok.
A Guy showed up to church yesterday named Roger. He is married and has 3 kids and he really liked the church. We{re gonna visit him this week. pretty exciting becuase its a famliy!!!
hmm... dont know what else to write.. not a super eventful week. Hna Brinez got a little sick. she has gastritis (not sure what its called in english) and usually she can keep it under control with pills, but she ran out and so we had to go to the dr. because the pains come back. but she is doing ok, She gave a talk in church this week on the hymns. I played the piano. There is still no bishop.
Kelvin and Wilson and Martha didnt go to church even though they said they would. HOpefully we can make progress with them. OUr investigator Adela went. She didnt really understand anything in the sacrament meeting. Probably for the best because the counselor in teh stake presidency spoke and it was pretty harsh. She is intersted though. The problem is that she isn{t married and doesnt want to marry her husband but she relies on him for money. so hopefully she can see the need ot make a change.
have a great week. I Love you all. and see you soon!!! Love Hermana Tibbitts

April 16, 2012

Hola family!!!

Good news.. the work is going along here in Braniff. I dont really know why i said it was slow. Things are really never slow here. Just sometimes we leave the house with a full schedule of appointments and then ALL of them fall through. So we walk a lot looking for the plan B or others to teach. but its not really a bad thing just how it goes sometimes, the lord always leads us to the people who really need to hear, and sometimes they are not the same ones that are in our agendas.

Martha... went out of town. Haven{t seen her or belen. Nubi is so-so right now. We are trying to figure out what her real intentions are. In our last lesson, she asked me if i could write her a letter of invitation, something like that. But it{s so she can get a green card and go to the united states. So hopefully she is not just listening to us to have an american friend. She didn{t go to church on Sunday but her brother did. It was kind of weird. Her brother is Kelvin and he went with his friend Wilson who lives next door. They said they were curious so taht{s why they went. we actually met Kelvin way before Nubi and invited to him to church. He said that he went a few weeks back but they went in the gates, and only saw little kids with shirts and ties. they didn{t go into the chapel! haha. they just left. So we were like, uhh. you can go in! Kelvin is weird in a funny way. We taught them the Restoration in Gospel principles and they seemed to be inteseted. Kelvin said he had read some stuff on the internet about the urim and thummin. So hopefully he{s not reading anti stuff. He seems to want to know what we believe.

We found a great family this week, but they didn{t go to church. They are really special.Iris is the mom and she has 2 kids Clarissa and Luis Alberto. Clarissa is 18 and Luis is 10 and he has muscular dystrophy, he is in a wheelchair. But he is such a happy kid. _Really he is an example. We invited them to baptism and the mom said, yes, that would be great for our family, if we could do it together. The problem is that her husband works like, all the time. We need to meet him and teach him. We are praying that we can and help this famly progress.

we are really happy because we have a couple that is goign to get married so the husband can get baptized! We just dont know when yet. His name is Andres and her name is Milka. Milka is a returned missionary, she went to Colombia about 10 yrs ago so she and my companion talk a lot about colombia. She has been inactive but recently is starting to go to church again. They already have 2 daughters and they want to have an eternal family. And Andres has a testimony of the church already, hereally likes it. YAY! we are happy.

Hey... my AMEX card is expired. Can you get me a new one to have when i get there?
Yes.. I am going to leave lots ofthings like clothes. Basically all of myclothes are worn out anyways. But I have lots of things i need to keep too. But i dont think i will fill my suitcases. So no worries. I will take money out with my wells fargo card. Probably next monday.

thats great that Debra is getting better!!! Will keep praying. I feel like i have prayed a lot int his week for ltos of reasons. And i really felt that the Lord hears and answers our prayers, always.

I gave a talk about tithing on sunday. it was kind of weird that they asked me to speak on that. But i think i did ok. I also had to play the piano. The bishop{s wife used to play but they jsut moved so there is no one else!! next week Hna. Briñez will speak. hehe.

Congrats on baseball!!! That sounds way fun.

have a great week everyone. read your scriptues. i love you
Hermana Tibbitts

Ok, i have more time.

What else what else... Thursday was Dia del Niño!! We gave candy to lots of kids. Basically theyjust ahve parties in the schools and give them lots of candy. OH, and you have to tell the kids felicidades. haha.it was funny.

I think we have interviews this week... eeek..... hope it goes well.

Sorry, I took zero photos this week. Got nothing to send.
ok now gotta go. love Hermana Tibbitts

April 9, 2012

Hello!!!

OK, first gotta get down to business, I dont know if the elders in the office like to scare us, but they tell usthat totravel out of bolivia, there are special laws because bolivia has a special president, and you can only take 1 suitcase with 20 kilos. I dont trust those elders sometimes. haha. Can you figure out if that{s true? Theysay it{s 85 dollars for the next bag. I{m taking 2 suitcases no matter what, since they are new, but would like to know if i need to payto have the money on hand.

Also, i dont think i can give you the email to the mission office. But everything is worked out now, right?? I can give you the phone number. 3337072.. 1030-430 monday thru friday bolivia time.

Hey, i{m not sick anymore.
I am praying for Debra and all the others. Hope they can recover quickly. Send my love!!

Well, this week was a really good week, it started out with a big surprise, they called us monday night to tell us that Hna. Pretel had cambios! We were like, what!? But what happened was that a sister who recently arrived decided to go home and not finish her mission. So Hna. Pretel had to go and be the companion of Hna. Saire in BELEN!!So I was realy excited because Belen is amazing. So now we{re just the 2 of us, Hna. Briñez and I. Can i just say, my companion rocks, She is great, i love her a lot and we are great friends and work well togtehrer.

The work is slow here sometimes. We are looking and looking for the chosen people.
We have found some good ones but the hard thing is taht we can{t force them to do anything. they have to decide.
Our ward is really small and our bishop just moved away, so we are going to be without a bishop for a while until they call another one. They said the last time that happened they were without a bishop it was 6 months.

We were able to have 2 investigators in church on sunday which was great, Martha and her 9 yr old daughter Ana Belen, and their son Dillon who is 4 and is super crazsy, but Ana Belen loved the church and martha liked it too, they aretraveling this week so hopefully we can find them when they get back.

Lizbeth we have totally given up on and Griselda is working double shifts so we haven{t had time to see her except once and she worked on sunday.

we found a girl named Nubi, weird name, but she is really intersted so hopefully we can help her gain a testimony of the gospel

in other news, we are churrasco one day,,, yummmm...... i learned how to make a dessert with passion fruit from my companion.. yum!!.... and we finally made the otehr cake that ee chien sent me, the carrot cake, super yum.

LOVE YOU ALL!!! !

see ya soon.!

sorry if this letter isnt very good butdont knwo what else to say

Hello my family!!!

Surprises huh... transfers and having my hija. But I am happy, like I said.

Hna Calderon said they have to send me to the US first and that its against church policy to send me to the UAE. Something like that. I didnt understand exactly the reason why. but anyways, i forwarded your email to them. Hopefully they can figure it out and i{ll call again in this week. Do you think you can send me the information of the stake president? His name and phone number and where he lives. they need to talk to him. and if the phone rings, answer it! haha. i tol dhtem about the time difference, but i dont think they understood very well. sorry!

This week wasn{t that great because i was a little sick again. Boo!! LIke I lost all my energy and couldnt do anything but sleep. it wasn{t too fun. we went to the clinic for tests and to see my dr. from before. but i am back on my feet now, i stil have to go back to the dr. to get my blood tests back, but i am fine and ready to play volleyball today!!! yay..

GENERAL CONFERENCE!! was wonderful. I loved the talks by Elder Ballard and Elder christofferson. and all of them. i just kind of sat there in awe. I can{t wait to get the ensign and study them. We were able to bring one investigator to the sunday morning session. Her name is griselda, she is 50 and has 10 kids! but only 5 live with her. She is great, she wants to learn slowly and she liked the conference. Hopefuly we can help her progress.

we haven{t seen lizbeth.. she keeps escaping us...
we have an investigator named Jorge who is great too, but he seems a little timid now and he didn{t go to conference. Hopefully we can hlep him.

thanks for the money. i have a lot of souveneirs already. i have a map of santa cruz too to show you. i don{t think you actually found my areas, because la canada is on the east side of sta cruz. Belen is on the north side. anyways, just wait and i will show you.

yes, the pensionista is great, she made my favorite food sinc e it was hna ballena{s birthday the other day , PIQUE LO MACHO, i will make it for you guys when i get home its way good. Yes, the family has 3 kids, twins (a boy and a girl), and one other boy. Joset, Joselin, and Richard are their name.s

anyways, i am looking at last week{s letter.... you are so great... i{m glad you are having such great experiences and i wish i could have heard those talks!

what are you gonna do for spring break??

sorry this letter is kind of lame. not much to talk about this time. being sick is the worst. but i wont be sick anymore in my mission. i can{t, no no, have to work til the end.

I lov eyou all.

have a wonderful week!!!

Hello family! I got TRANSFERRED!!! My new area is called Braniff. It´s a tiny area and it´s close to my 2nd area of Guaracal.
Also, I became a Mommy again!!! My hija is named Hna. Pretel she is from Trujillo Peru and she is great and I am still training Hna. Briñez, we are in a trio!!

Hna. Cornejo stayed in La Cañada, that was a surprise, and she is training an american. I WAS SO SAD TO LEAVE LA CAÑADA!! It was a huge surprise to be training again and to move areas. But I am happy!! This new area is nice so far and we are finding a lot of new poeple. We are opening the area, well, there were hermanas but both of them were transfered so we are basically starting from ZERO. But we have faith that we can have baptisms in this month of April.

SEVEN new sisters arrived in the transfers. So almost all of the sisters are training. So that´s why i get to train two. It´s pretty fun. We are getting along well so far. We live with 2 other sisters Hna. Ballena and Hna. Morris. Hna. BAllena is from Puno Peru and Hna MOrris from Cedar city utah i think? Hna Ballena is training Hna Morris. their area is called San pedro. We live right next to the church/stake center. So that´s pretty nice. We also live a block away from a mercado, so that´s nice. WE might go look around this afternoon and see what there is. Hipermaxi is close too to buy groceries. Our pensionista is the wife of the bishop of San Pedro. she is great and she is 8 months pregnant so that is exciting!!

OUr first day was super great! We found a few new investigators and one that the sisters left, her name is Lizbeth and she was supposed to be baptized but the day before her baptism the hermanas found out she was dating someone and so had to cancel (she is married to someone else but separated from him). She is really good but she didnt go to church yesterday we dont know why, we think her mother is putting bad thoughts in her head, so we will see with her. I have faith she can be baptized. The bishop and his wife drove us aroudn the area and showed us where the members live. so that was nice.

we found a less active girl who is 18 and she has a boyfriend, we taught him adn he is really interested in the church and we taught that he can know which church is true. He said he would pray and he wants to read the book of mormon. it´s an investigator with lots of challenges but the Lord can do it!!

The other day we went to a house of members and met this couple visiting from Ireland, well she is from Ireland and he is from here, we talked to them for a while in ENGLISH and it was so strange. They are both returned missionaries and they have a crazy story of how they met and everything. I had to translate for her in Relief Society that was interesting, luckily she had a cell phone with the conference talks on it and so we could look at that. She is going to cook for us this week. She said irish food or indian food. should be interesting.

Travel plans--- I don´t know. The only thing I know is that I will arrive May 4 or 5. The secretaries don´t like to tell us the travel plans for some reason. Hna. Randall said that her family knew her travel plans but she never knew them. Anyways, so does someone from the stake have to travel from Dubai or somewhere to release me? Also, i need to know if i can travel with my name tag on. Can you figure that out for me? I¨ll try my best to figure some things out but can´t make you any promises. Sorry. thats just how it is in this misssion. lots of mysteries sometimes.

have a great week. thanks for the pictures! liked them a lot. talk to you next week. Love you all. pray for us!

March 19, 2012

Hello family.
well i{m trying to do a bunch of things on the computer right now so this may be short. i wanted to respond to last weeks letter that you sent but i forgot it and dont have time.

this week we had the baptis of mercedes and victoria!! we decided that we should just do it, we had to go almost every night to teach them and prepare them but at the end they were ready a nd it was a nice baptism alhtough difficult to pull off because of course we couldnt find anyone to help us be witnesses or baptize, we finally got them but then realized that the font had been emptied out halfway right when we were ready to do the ordinance. So we had to turn the water back on and also fill with buckets. luckily the people that came and victoria and mercedes were understanding and waited. Also we had an 18 year old baptize, spencer, and it was his 2nd baptism (1st was Daniela) and he had to baptized Mercedes 3 times because once her hair came out and once her dress came out. Then he had to baptize Victoria 4 times because her foot came out every time, and she{s a little bit bigger. So spencer is a stud and he has lots of pracitce now for his mission (december he will do his papers).

Tanner!! happy bithday!!! i can{t believeyou are 18!! Proud of you too!

As far as summer goes--- sounds ok everything you are saying. I dont know what to do about housing so you can just wait, i{ll decide later. I should be home around May 4 or 5 and i will arrive to abu dhabi. going to the states in mid june sounds good also Sounds good about the classes too, in fall. Summer i dont think so. I dont know what else. but i do want to work and earn some money..

thanks for the photos!!! sounds fun the cub scout thing, but lots of work, way to go dad.} and thanks for your letters. theyalways make me feel good.

this week was interesting, lots of worrying about getting mercedes and victoria ready, and we have a few new families and poeple that we are teaching. We have one family that is great, familia Manjares (Victoria and manfred) Victoria is an amazing person but she is not married and they have problems in their relationship, hopefully she can get married, she feels good in the church and we think she will make the decision.
We also found this guy named Gustavo, he lives with some people that we have visited like twice, he is a rocker with a ponytail but has a burning interest in the BOM, we told him to come to chruch and we would give it ot him, and he came! So we were able tot each him about it and he is looking for the truth, the members helped us A LOT in the lesson, and he wants to read it in a week. So we will see what happens. The Lord works in such mysterious wayssometimes.
We are preparing for april. This week are transfers. I think i will stay here with hna brinez and that hna cornejo willl go to another area. But you never know.

thanks for all your prayers. love you all. take care.

Hello family,
Well this week was really difficult, remember how i said that i was sick but felt better? haha... well i actually got worse and had to go back to the clinic monday night and i was basically sick all week. They told me that i didnt actually have a urinary infection but an infection in my intestines or something like that... Anyways it was super awful and i kind of just want to forget about it in some ways, it{s hard for me to write about it right now, but it was a positive experience in some ways because i was able to learn patience and humility. Also my companions helped me a lot and took good care of me and were also patient because we were in the house a lot.
í feel lucky to have them they are good companions. Also I feel lucky to have a good zone, we went to the zone meeting on thursday because i felt bad in the morning, but about an hour in i started to feel really yucky, and so i got some of the elders to give me a blessing. We thought we would go into a classroom to do it, but they actually stopped the meeting and did the blessing in front of everyone. it was really special that the zone was united in prayer for me and my health. then we went home and zzzzzzz we are going to go back the the doctor today or tomorrow hopefully i can feel better soon. i always appreciate your prayers for me.

although this week i was super sick i am happy because we got the most important things done, one of them being DANIELA´s baptism!! Oh man we were so nervous about it becuase we thought no members would go because there was a satellite conference for bolivia that night, but people did show up and it was bonito. Daniela told us her motives for getting baptized. She is one of the people that can express herself really well.
1. she feels peace and tranquility in the church and likes being there.
2. she wants to be an example to her brother and parents so that they will make the decision to be baptized and get married.
3. she wants to be sealed to her family someday in the temple.
Wow!! She is amazing.
also she said that she had a dream and that she met Joseph smith,a nd she asked him if it was the true church, and he said yes, then she said that her dream changed and she was walking to a church in a long pretty dress with her parents, we think that it is actually the temple! How amazing no?
We had a little lesson after her baptism with her family and she was able to tell them the 3 reasons and the father was very proud of her, but he is not ready yet to get married (still!) and be baptized, but he says he thinks it iwll be soon!! I hope so!!!

Also yesterday there was a satellite broadcast for all of Bolivia, and it was interesting, there were 4 speakers one of the being Elder HOlland, he gave his talk and so did sister wixom of the primary, and 2 latino general authorities also spoke. I think the 4 of them were in a room with cameras and there was no audience there, they were in salt lake city. Half of it was translated and half was not. It was cool becuase we were there with our investigators Victoria and Mercedes who speak Quechua and the 2 latino general authoirities said a few phrases in Quechua and Aymara. Also Elder Holland started out his talk in spanish. He spoke for about 2 minutes then explained that he would not speak more in spanish becuase of his terrible, horrible accent. it was pretty funny but true. But he also finished his talk with his testimony in spanish. It was super powerful. It was simple but you could tell that he had practiced a lot, and it was memorized.

Victoria and Mercedes are excited about their baptism but we need to teach them lots of things stilll. It has been hard with my sickness and also they don{t understand things very well, and on{t reember things, so we have to teach them like little children. But I think their baptism will be this month.

the package--- seemed to be intact but i didn{t get the russian dolls or a packing list, are you sure you put them in? I did get the chocolate, the calendar, the hat and socks, the photos and the letter. thanks so much! probably not a good idea to send any more packages at least from abu dhabi haha.

I love you all. Have a wonderful week and keep working hard like you all are. I know that what you are doing is going to help you all in the futures and help to serve God.

HELlo!!!

No i dont think decent keyboards exist here. hmm.

dont have much time

MOM--- i GOT YOUR CHRISTMAS PACKAGE! oN MARCH 1. Haha. funny huh.
Thanks so much! I got tracee´s valentine´s day package.

Well this week was pretty good, mostly because RAUL got baptized!
Which is a miracle. He arrived an hour and a half late but the members
were patient and he was baptized! It was really special. Raul paints
mostly schools, like kindergartens with murals, stuff like that, he
loves any type of painting.

Yes there are 2 victorias. Actually 3 now. I think the one that has
the daugher mercedes is solo. so that is good.

This week will be Daniela´s baptism. her mom victoria is a sister who
has to get married. Daniela is 10 and is super excited for her
baptism. Her brother JOse luis who is 13 is going to wait to get
baptized when his parents are married. he has hope that it will be
soon. it´s a little disappointing for us but we respect his decision
and that he has a lot of faith. hopefully it will be ture

AFter the baptism i got sick. I had a high fever and couldn´t seleep
and my head hurt. we had to go to the clinic sunday morning and miss
church. i got a shot in my bum and got to pee in a cup and they took
my blood. they think i have a urine infection? which is really weird
but hwatever. my medicines that i have now are helping me. yesterday i
was in bed most of the day. but dotn worry, i am oknow.

I am running out of time because ihad to help my compnaions with their
letter sto president.

I love you all! have a great week and be strong! The gospel is true!
What a blessing it is to be a misisonary.

i wanted to send photos but this computer wont let me :(

Keep up the baseball stuff! i want to se you play when i get there.

i had more time, and i typed more, but then i lost it.

But raul gave his tesimony in church, we werne´t there abut he made
everyone cry, from what we have heard. how cool is that. he gave his
testimony the same day he was confirmed.

we did a service project with our district cleaning a yard with
machetes and hoes. and
ate together as a district after.

being in a trio is hard sometimes but it is good. i have 2 good
compnaions and i learn lots from them, especially spanish. lots of new
words and phrases. it is good. they took good care of me too when i
was really sick the otehr night.

i am happy because our investigators went to church even though we
didn´t. our mission leader told us that a new family went but he
doesn´t remember their names. hopefully we can figure out who they are
and teach them!

Hello!!!

Hey thanks for your letters. Looks like crazy stuff!! Will read it all later, don´t have time becuase i have lots of things to tell you about...

First of all, I have a new companion!! I AM TRAINING.!

her name is Hermana Briñez and she is from Cali, Colombia. She is great!! So we are in a trio now.
I love Colombians. They have great accents and they say funny things like add -ico to the end of words or say ¨si, señora¨¨ eveyr time they say si.
She came the saturday before carnaval so we had time to get to know each other during carnaval. We only had to cook 1 day for ourselves and we made hamburgers with avocado and they were yummyyyy. i wrote you a letter by hand but dont know when i will be able to send it.

Saturday was Hna. Briñez´s birthday!! And it was a great day. In the morning we sang her a mexican birthay song and threw confetti all over her bed. We also made a little happy birthday sign and Hna Julie made her a cake!! and had decorated her house with a sign and balloons. so that was fun. Also we had a baptism!! We baptized a 10 year old girl named Vanessa. Her aunt and uncle and family are active members and her mom is amember too but a little inactive because of her husband (stepfather of vanessa). But it was a great baptism!

We have 4 poeple with baptism dates, one is Raul who is about 60 he is a painter and we finally got him interviewed, he works a lot and is hard to find and he doesn´t have a phone. His baptism will be this saturday!!
Also there is a family that have been investigating the church for like 5 months the mom, victoria wants to get baptized but she has to get married and her husband is being a little stubborn he wants to get married at the end of hte year. But we have permission to baptize her 2 kids Jose Luis and Daniela we are planning that for the 10th

Also yesterday a girl that we contacted came to church with her mom and both of them accepted baptims dates and they liked the church a lot they stayed all 3 hours. They are victoria and mercedes. Not sure if victoria can get baptized though because she is not married and it sounds like she lives with her husband.

I Love being back in La Cañada our pensionista Hna Julie and Hno Edgar her husband are like my parents here in bolivia, Edgar reminds me a lot of DAd he makes the same kind of jokes, same with his brother Angel who lives next door and comes over a lot.A lot of things have changed for example we have all of the are instead of just half like before and we are working more in the half where i wasn´t before so that is different, and i love being wiht teh same members before and seeing how they have changed and grown.
We have a great ward mission leader his name is Juan and he is the bishop´s son, he was still on his mission last year when i was in this area, and he helps alot and gives great classes in gosple principles.

Tracee- how are your fingers?? I had to go to the dermatologist the other day because i have fungus growing under 3 of my fingernails. I have some stuff that i put on it and pills and it it working already it´s almost all gone.

Tanner! CONGRATULATIONS!!! SENDING A BIG HUG AND A WOO- HOO!!! so proud!!! Are you going in the summer then? Or just in the fall? I¨m so excited! I can´t believe you didn´t win that contest. YOu looked awesome. do you have a video??

I am glad sis. Richter is ok! I can´t believe that happened... I will pray for their family.

Boone! hope your teeth feel better!!

Wyatt- how much more do you have to do for your cycling merit badge? Sounds like you are doing a ton!! !

I can´t believe how fast the time is flying by. I have so little time left :( I´m gonna miss the mission!!! It has been so wonderful to be able to serve the Lord. I love it even with all the hard things that we have to deal with it ´s really stressful sometimes but the rewards are great.

sorry but once again i am typing on a crappy keyboard.
I love you all and have a great week! Will write again next week.

hello my dear family

So.... CAmbios... YOU´LL NEVER GUESS.....
I´m back in LA CAÑADA.
my 1st area!
And with a sister named Hna. Cornejo.
She has about 4 months on the mission she just finished up her training. She is great, she is from Arequipa Peru. she is a great missionary. she has helped me a lot already. She
It´s funny to be back in my 1st area with another peruvian.
I was sad to leave belen and all the wonderful poeple there. But Hna Hernandez is still ther with another hermana hna. merrell.

sebastian is considered a missionary baptism becuse he is 9. Anyone over 8 years is a missionary baptism. unless it´s an 8 yr old that is getting baptized with thier parents all converts.

This time though, there are just us 2 hermanas in the ward (before there were 4) so I´ve never been in parts of the area. So I walk around mostly lost stll.

WE have one baptism planned for the 25th a man named raul he is about 50 hopefully we can get his interviewed and everything because he doesnt have much time to be taught.
we have a lot of other good people we are teaching here, lots of poeple who arent married though, and we ar findi9ng more every day. this area is great, i loev it, it´s so easy to fine poeple who are willing to listen.

it´s been great to see how people have changed in this area in 1 year, its´funny because here, birthdays are a big deal, even if you´re old, and the members tell me that their birthday is coming up and i think- hey i remember what we did fo ryour birthday last year! haha.
but for example the girls in the pictures mariela and whitney, were inactive when i was 1st here and we were trying to help them obtain testimonies, and they are strong now, they accompanied us to do visits on sunday, and they are so much fun. their older sister tatiana wants to go on a mission she is saving up money she just graduated from the unviestity.

also a great surprise on sunday Carlos and irma from paraiso visited me! i dont´know if you remember them, we would go to their house and eat and make pizza and stuff, they have a son tha´ts 2 named Andres, he is a cutie, i was so surprised to see them! When i was in paraiso their marriage had falen apart CArlos moved out and started being disobedient but nwo they are back together and going to church!! So happy1!!!! hopefully that means they will make it to the temple as a family.

also remember Eliana nad Kittito from Belen. we did fhe with them each week. they got sealed this week!!!!! SO HAPPY!!

it´s raining a lot here, but even so we are going to play with water ballons after this!!! woo hoo!!! for carnaval.

sounds like some exciting and hard things are hpapeneing for you all. Just be strong all of you! I love hearing about the things you are doing. Endure to the end!! You are all amazing

the gospel is really the best. it´s amazing to know and undrstand our savior jesus christ. what a special opportunity i t is for me to represent him. read your scritptures always and pray and those are the best things to do for any problem.

sorry this keyboard is hard to type on thats why there are lots of error.s

Next week I wont be writing because it is carnaval. will be shut up in the house! so don´t expect anything for 2 weeks :( OK! i´ll try to write you something by hand while in the house.

i love you all and have a great 2 week. boo hoo!! :(

Hello family!!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS TANNER! Proud of you! BYU-I!

Glad you youth conference went good! Lots of people in the house though! yuck. Good job on the scout stuff.

It was a great week.
Sorry if I scared you with the bee sting stuff. The doctor wasn´t really very clear on if I was allergic or if it just got infected. Probably both things. They didn´t tell me to get an epi pen. I don´t think those exist here. Bolivia is crazy sometimes.I am just trying to be careful because i dont want to repeat that experience. Two other people in the ward told me they got stung by bees last week too, but nothing happened to them like what happened to me.

the 17th we have a baptism for SEbastian the 9 year old whose parents are members. His dad gave his testimony in church yesterday! They are doing awesome and are excited.

We also are teaching a couple Fernando and Karen and they are starting the papers to get married today! Karen was in the hospital last weekend for a problem, but she´s out now, just has to rest. They will probably be baptized in March. they have 2 daughters 3 and 2 yrs and they are really cute. Paola and Nayeli.

Cristina didn´t go to church yesterday. she decided to go back to the internship she had before at a radio station. Boo.. but we explained to her the consequences of her decision and let her make the decision. Sad but we did what we could.b

thanks for the encouragin words. I have 12 weeks left on teh msision. I am gonna finish strong! Woo hoo!!

Wow the time went by fast, i was doing some photo sharing with my comp, sorry, but all is well in Belen!!

Well, this week is cambios, and they have to separate the amazing companionshp Tibbitts-Hernandez. Looks like I might be training a new missionary. I don´t know if i will stay in this area or go because this will be Hna. Hernandez´s last transfer, she goes home in march. Nervous!! Pray for me! I´ll let you know next week.

January 30, 2012

Remember how i said i had a busy week...... welll something happened that made it a lot harder.

Tuesday during lunch I got stung by a bee on my left upper arm! It didn´t hurt much, we cleaned it and put a bandaid on it and we went out and worked all day no problem. i felt tired and a little sick when we arrived home at 9. That night I woke up at 1 a.m. shivering. then i put blankets on and warmed up and then had a fever. Didn´t sleep much that night. Next day was mission conference. I realized that i had been scratching my arm a lot in my sleep and that it was swollen and i wasnt feeling too great. So after the conference we went to the emergency room. I guess I am allergic to bee stings? I don´t really know but the Dr. said that the only thing to do was have me have injections twice a day for 5 days of antibiotics. Today is my last day! They put this little plug thing in my hand so that they dont have to find a vein every time (the medicine goes in my vein). So we had to go to the clinic every day twice a day, lots of fun, the clinic isnt very close to our house and we have to take 2 micros to get there and 2 to go home. Lots of money spent on bus fares! and we were kind of running out of money in the first place. But dont worry, I only have one more to go, they will take out my vein plug thing tonight, yay!! and my arm is basically better now, it´s not like in the pictures, it´s normal. The clinic we go to is very good just like in america. I am friends with all the nurses in the emergency room and hna hernandez with the people in the front desk.So dont freak out about what happened please. I got a blessing from an Elder in my district. i am fine now ready to work hard this week.

Well mision conference was great, although i felt sick, we ate pizza!! and i learned some stuff will have to go over my notes and my companion´s notes, and the interviews were good this time, very relaxed, when i arrived only latinos were ever secretaries or assistants but now we have 4 americans in the office so its pretty fun.

Cristina´s baptism was great, sending photos, she was really happy and was confirmed a member of the church on sunday. We are trying to convince her to go on the single adults weekend during carnaval but i think she has to work. We are teaching her dad (man in the photos with the checkered shirt) and her sister wants to learn about hte church, but she doesn´t live in our area. We saw Rosemary in the Torres Cainco, she went to buy scritpures the day before cristina´s baptism, but they had run out of hymnbooks. So luckily I had one and gave that to Cristina.

Something exciting that happened is that a kid named Sebastian has a baptism date. It should be this 11 Feb. His dad had an interview with the bishop and the bishop said he is worthy to baptize his son. Yay! They have gone to church 4 sundays in a row and they want to sing in the stake choir! haha. Ruben (the dad) drove us to the clinic after the baptism. He is a mechanic, he put his car together himself, and it´s pretty funny. i don´t think i t would be allowed o the road in the united states, but in boliva it´s just fine. Dont worry. we arrived safely-

Tati and Julio are kind of on hold for the moment. We did get to watch the Testaments with Melva and the Banzer´s. That was fun. Andres now has the presthood! He is a priest. The guy from peru keeps saying he will go to church and then he doesn´t. We are working now with a girl named Eldy who is about 20, she went to church for the 1st time on sunday, but her family is really catholic, hopefully she can see the difference and want to be baptized. She has friends in the ward already.

this week i got tracee´s package with the DVD´s and candy! and a package for Malia Pruitt. Thanks! Tracee, that dress is too small for me! But the shirt is good i am wearing it right now thanks its cute.

I bought a liahona in the distribution center! Oh, and we are going to get them in the mission again! yay!

Thanks for a great encouraging letter!
Have fun at youth conference.! I hope all of you have a great week.

I told the elders at the office that I am planning to go to Abu Dhabi, and they said that was fine, but where is that? haha. I wonder what route i will take. The Elders were asking me but I didn´t know what to tell them. I think I will be arriving around May 4-5. That´s like, really soon! Crazy. Anyways, good luck making the summer plans. Sounds like there are tons of fun things to do in Abu Dhabi when i get home!

I lov eyou all so much!

HEllo family!!

Mom, happy birthday!! Sorry i didn´t tell you last week! But I hope
you had a good day and that it wasnt taken over too much by other
stuff. Sounds like you got to enjoy it more after.

Ok, the ward here is big, like in the U.S. But this is the only ward i
ahve been in that is like that. The other wards i have been in would
probably be branches in the US.
The bulidings are nice but just different. Things break a lot and dont
get fixed. Also the members get the churches really dirty every week.
i don´t know how exactly but its pretty gross. Most of the churches
have 2 halves with a hallway between. One half is all the classrooms
and the other half is the chapel/cultural hall. There´s no basketball
court inside, just tile for parties. There is always a
basketball/football court outside, of concrete.

I still haven´t gotten the packages.. hopefully this week... it´s my
zone leader´s fault i think since they haven´t been to the offices in
2 weeks to get mail.
Thanks for sending that little part of the ensign... we don´t get them
anymore in the mission!! they decided not to renew it! Boo!!

Today we went to the zoo as a zone. it was pretty fun. They don´t
really have many animals. Mostly birds and snakes and turtles. But
they did have leopards and a bear. It was fun to be with the zone.

Saturday is the baptism of Cristina! She had her interview yesterday
and passed. This week we went like on tuesday,a nd she said that she
was having lots of doubts, and so we told her she needed to pray and
ask God, which she hadn´t done yet. We told her we would call her the
next morning. So we did and she said she got an answer and that she´s
getting baptized for sure!! She said she felt something really special
and started to cry a little. She is going to be a great member of the
church and who knows, may bea misisonary!

i feel happy about the work right now because we have lots of
investigators, and we always have investiagttors at church on sundays.
We are finding that some are not actually interested in baptism ,but
we always find the people who are! I love the ward here it´s like a
home for me, beause the members are so wonderful. I´m gonna be sad to
leave it!

We didn´t get to do what we planned with Tati and Julio, but it´s ok.
We have plans this week. We did talk to Tati for a while and she told
us why she doesn´t want to marry Julio-- it´s for the drinking. If he
changes she will marry him or if not she says she will separate. I
hope we can help him stop drinking. He is a super nice guy, just has
this one vice.

We got a reference from the hermanas in paraiso of this guy named
walter, and we visited him this week and he´s so crazy! i odn´t know
how to describe him... but he´s from peru and just kind of lives very
free.. we told him he should pray at night and to remember, he wrote
it on his hand ORAR... it was pretty funny.

My comp was sick this week... she had a sore throat and headache. I
kind of got sick on the same day too with a super congested nose... so
we stayed home and slept for a day. H. Hernandez goes crazy when we
can´t go out to work though. It was hard convincing her that she is
too sick to go out to work. Also... we went to the knee doctor for
her. Her left knee was bugging her a bit. He prescribed an x ray, mri,
some pills etc,,, then we ran into insurance problems because the
doctor filled out the paper work wrong.. but we got it fixed and have
to go back in this week to see what the dr. says.

so this week is going to be crazy. we have
-mission conference
-knee doctor appointment
-interviews with president calderon
-cristina´s baptism.
-a full schedule of appointments and plans to put baptism dates on a few people

i always appreciate your prayers for me and for the work and for the
people i teach.

Well, know that I love all of you! proud of all of you too and the
things you are doing.
have a great week.
love Hna. Tibbitts

January 16, 2012

ey..!

i look forward always t o your letters too..!

First of all--- what is the letter fro BYU? What does it say exactly?? I have to do another semester?

Melva got baptized this week!! She made empanadas for her own baptism and her son in law brought tons of soda, and TONS of members came. Melva is sooo funny. She has tons of friends in church already. When she was baptized she forgot to plug her nose, and then when she came out of the water, she tried to push in the man that baptized her! it was funny!!! The family came that always took her daughter to church when Yoli got baptized at 8 years old as a convert. They helped iwth the program and also hermano Andres my convert gave his testimony. Basically ti was amazing and Melva cried before she got baptized.

we are working a lot with her daughter and son in law, Tati and Julio Cesar. Julio Cesar is the guy iwth a lot of tatoos in the picture of the baptism. they go to an evangelist church. WE are planning to watch the testaments with them this week. He´s like our project now, we decided. We finally gained his confidence now just got to get him to listen and go to church. They have a son named Bruno who is 5 and is EXACTLY like Boone!! it´s crazy. Boone, sounds like soccer is going great! I¨m gonna play soccer today too, with the elders.

What else... we did exchanges with the other hermanas this week. I went to the other area, Hamacas, with hna. Harman. it was a good day. they have great investigators. their area is the richest part of town. There are HUGE mansions there. it was fun to be with hna. harman.
it is really hard to type on this keyboard..

yes cristina´s baptism date is the 28th of this month. she is doing great. she went to melva´s baptism and to church on sunday.

Rosalia´s parents went to chruch too!! that was so exciting. They are moving in a week though, so there´snot much we can do.-

No i do not have the packages yet. =(

We are searching like locas to find new investigators. it´s been really hard this week, we just haven´t been finding poeple that are home when we have appointments, or that want to listen at all. this week will be better!

MOm, thats great you are primary pres. they switched around a lot of callings in the ward here too. We are going to get a new ward mission leader, since the one we have was just called as young mens president, and the bishop is letting us make suggestions.

The reason i wrote about health is that in the last month, 2 sisters have gone home for heath reasons, and several elders. One of them was my dear companion hna. Larsen. She has to have surgery. HOpe she is doing ok. I am not sick. Hna. hernandez is kind of paranoid about her health, it´s really funny. We are going to a Dr. because she has pain in her knee.

Well, i love you all. have a great week. i know i will because i am a missionary!!! for the lord´s church. the work is not easy but it´s a privelege to do it. i know that it´s worth every sacrifice.
love hermana tibbitts

January 9, 2012

hey family, this week was actually really productive for me, i just love i.t... some sad things happened but things overall are good, and i{m really thankful that the lord has let me continue working with my HEALTH and strength and happiness and love in the work. sorry, that makes no sense, but i hope you get what i mean.

guess what, MELVA is getting baptized!!! On saturday. She went on the ward activity and talked to some random lady who was visiting, and that lady convinced her to get baptized! She is sincere too, she wants to live the gospel. She passed her interview, and saturday it iwll be!!! this week was fulll of ups and downs dealign with her, but thingsa re good now and just gotta wait til saturday... we are gonna watch the joseph smith movie, the one about his life, this week, so that should be way fun!!

oh.. ps.. .things are better with the dist leader now. no worries. he{s a good one just very serious sometimes, and we are more on the joking side.

We also have another person with a baptism date. Cristina who is 23, and her sister Rosemary is a member, but was inactive, just because she didn{t have anyone to go to church with. Cristina has an internship with a radio station, and she is supposed to go sunday mornings, but she isn{t going becuase she prefers to go to church! Woo hoo!! Yesterday was her 2nd time to go to church. She is golden. She has a testimony already and we{ve only visited her twice. she is interested in going on a mission too. cool no!!

Sorry i{m writing later than normal... we had a 2 zone activity playing sports.... i{m sunburned... it was fun. i played a little soccer. i{m terrible at it still.

As far as the housing goes.... my friend who got off her mission said she lives in a house.. and i think that would be good too... so here{s what i think we could do... is there a housing guide yet? usually they post it online... you could email it to me and then i could print it out and figure it out. otherwise i{ll just look when i get back. there is always girls housing.

and school.. that all sounds right. really i can be in any cohort. but thats fine. it was kinda not so fun going to draper every day though.

sorry this is not very long. know that i lov e you all, and miss you a lot. the mission is the greatest time of my life so far and i{m just tryingto enjoy it while it lasts. can{t wait to see you in may! not gonna lie, that makes me a little trunky thinking of going to abu dhabi and doing all the things there we have planned. i wanna cook bolivian food foryou all!!

it looks like some of the sisters that were supposed to go home at the same time as me, may be going home a little bit before. i might be the only sister finishing in may! Booo!! oh well, it{s their choice...

have a great week. love hna tibbitts.

January 2, 2012

Hello my dear family!!

happy new years! didn´t hardly sleep because o fthe fireworks they were setting off next door. Sounded like our roof was going to explode!Same thing on christmas eve.
Transfers--- I¨m staying in Belen with hna. Hernandez. By the end of this transfer we will have 6 months as companions (split up)- woo hoo! So probably next transfer i will go to a new area.
Well it sounds like your norway trip was way fun!! Too bad about what happened with tracee´s filghts though. That´s a pain. Coldplay sounds fun, but i guess it could have been better huh. That´s pretty lame there was no encore.

Trying to send more pictures but it´s not cooperating too well……… sorry… thes emight just be to see when i get home. The emails for photos 3 and 4 didn´t work.

So what happened with me? Well, transfers. Hna harman went back to her are with her new companion. We got a new district leader and we are not happy about it. Oh well just have to keep working. Today we are going to make pizza and cake! Yummmm.
We are glad harold´s baptism worked out too. And yes, something crazy almost always has to happen.
I ran into Florencia´s boyfriend (Florencia joined the church while i was in Guaracal) the other day- he drove us in his taxi home! They are doing ok, she still has to get her divorce from her 1st husband. She just moved to a town about an hour away. A Divorce here is 4000 bolivianos, a marriage, only 400. Weird huh!
What else… we had dinner on new years eve with the banzer family. Churrasco, yum yum yum. I ate so much. Then when we got home the Chambi family was makign lasagne for us. Oops. It wasn´t going to be ready until like 10:30 though so luckily we were able to get out o fit.

We are seraching for new people to teach, as always, and it was really hard this week, with so many drunks in the street and such, so many parties going on. But we just have to keep working! WE ahve a few people we are working with. Total miracle on Sunday, we didn´t really expect any investigators to comt to church, being new years day, but we had 2! Rosalia was one (the 13 year old whose family we are teaching), and Melva—2 of her kids are members but she refuses to be baptized. She´s an interesting person. She´s a single mom and works a lot. But this month she is taking a 3 week vacation so we are going to take advantage and go more often to teach her and do service. She knows it is true she is just scared, we think.

well, love you all! have a great week. I love the gospel. make some good new years resolutions! I have some good ones. This week i learned so much in my personal scripture study. it was great. I read my patriarchal blessing and saw tons ofthings i never saw before. And the BOM is amazing. So that´s my invitation to you all. Personal scripture study, always! it´s the best thing you can do for yourself.

love hermana tibbitts

¡Feliz navidad a todos! ¡Feliz navidad a todos¡Feliz navidad a todos! ¡Y año nuevo también! (sing to the tune of we wish you a merry christmas.)

Hola mi querida familia, it was so great to talk to you the other day!!! i´m glad things are good i laughed a lot at the things that are going on. sorry you had to be bythat trash can! that´s pretty funny. did you take a picture of you doing that? that´s something to remember haha.

Well I hardly know what to write since I just talked to you... OH yeah.. Christmas!!

Christmas eve we had Harold´s baptism. Before we made lunch in the Church for us and the Elders that came to help with the baptism. We made pique macho. it was yummy. When Harold and his family arrived, his dad said he had to leave in 10 minutes because he was going to be late to work. So we ran down the street to get our witness and did the baptism really fast. All the talks, songs, etc were after the baptism. Only an opening prayer before haha. But it was really nice. HIs mom bought treats and Harold was really happy.

Christmas eve we went home early there were lots of drunks in the street and we had tacos with the Chambi family, the people we live with, we also watched Joy to the World in English so that was fun. The chambi´s are so crazy. sending a picture but hope it uploads in time.

We dressed up for christmas eve too-- me as an angel, hna hernandez as shepherd, and hna harman as pregnant mary! it´s fun to be in a trio!

Christmas we went to church in the morning. Then after lunch we did a few short little visits and then went Caroling!! With the Saucedo family. Both of them are returned missionaries and always help us a lot. Their daughter is 15 (looks way older) and wants to serve a mission. We had lots of fun. We caroled about 3 or 4 hours. We went to members, investigators, and even sang to people in the street. IN one member´s house, they gave us 2 bags of stuffed animals that they wanted to get rid of. so we took them and gave them out to kids in the street!! It was so fun. People flocked around us and looked out their doors when we sang in the street. It was so fun. We wore santa hats around too.
It was a great christmas!!!

When we got home we made pico de gallo, quesadillas, and stuffing from the box my friend sent me. We also had guarana and dr pepper and twisslers. Yum..

hoping to do lots of good work this week!
it was special to be a missionary at this time of year again, this time in the mission field! I love my savior jesus christ.

well im almost out of time and most of the photos haven´t loaded...sorry! next week!

Well, until next year!! Love you all. P.S. There are transfers this week! Hmm.. what will happen???
love Hna Tibbitts

December 19, 2011

hello family!!! Trying to send a bunch of funny pictures from this week.. .decided to carry around my camera this week and this is what we came up with.

haha you think i´m tan... I¨m still Choka here!! (choka is white.. or blond... to them i´m blond)

the family actually didn´t get mad about the fish... they said it was old and it was no big deal... a huge relief for us though!!

This week was good. Harold had his interview for the baptism. His dad wants him to get baptized by an Elder. So the Elder who interviewed him will baptize him. He is a choko from Utah which is what they want. haha.

We are looking for new investigators. We were teaching a lady named Sonia and she was really close to accepting a baptism date, but now she´s having problems in her family and is going to move to Argentina in january. so we dropped her. We found a few good people but just gotta wait and see!!

In one lesson, a lady told us that she didn´t attend a church, becuase she didn´t know which church was true... so we taught the restoration and she was amazed. With another lady, she said she would like to be a Christian (she was catholic), so what does she need to do to be a christian? pretty cool.

We are teaching a 13 year old girl and her family. She was a reference from a kid in the ward. She went to church yesterday and she was asking us what she has to do to be baptized. we need to get her mom on board though. But Rosalia is a sweet girl.

We got invited by an investigator family to their christmas champagne! hahah..

Andres and his family is doing great. I didn´t mention before that in the baptism a lot of it was video taped. one of the sons ¨`ïnterviewed^ us and asked us to share about what we were feeling, etc. He said he was going to make a DVD and make copies for us.. hopefully he comes thru!!

Sounds like you are all busy and having fun. I laughed a lot at that picture of boone! good job wyatt on the scout award. Sounds like fun in the primary. The primary presidency in this ward is really impatient. They yell at them a lot. We are acutally helping the kids with a song for christmas. They do primary weird here. They give each kid a songbook to sing and they have them write things in notebooks. i don´t get it.

My package is actually in the mission office... they want me to pay them to get it.. so i hope the assistants and presidente enjoy it! i could still pick it up still i guess though. now they´re telling me 280 bolivianos though.

Can´t wait to get my christmas packages!! Nothing yet.. but i did get a letter from my dear friend Pip from BYU! Who is now in Boston.... practically everyone i know is engaged or married! Boo!

CAlling----- I am planning to call you at about 2:00 bolivia time on thursday. hope that works for you!! turn up the ringer loud! don´t know what youll be doing the next day but sounds like h. hernandez wants to talk to her family at night because they work.We have 1 hour this time to talk!!!

Christmas.. is going to be weird here... it´s as hot as ever.... there are a few houses with lights and a few more with christmas trees but many don´t have anything. it´s weird, it doesn´t feel like christmas at all. I have a few christmas songs but i should have brought more christmas music with me. Oh well. Not sure what we´re going to do that day because President wants us to be home an hour earlier than usual and we can´t eat pork here, adn that´s about all that bolivians eat on christmas.

Thanks for all the encouraging things you say. I really need it sometimes.
I love you, each of you! Have fun in Norway and I¨ll talk to you in a few days!! Love Hna Tibbitts

December 12, 2011

ANDRES WAS BAPTIZED AND CONFIRMED A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH!!!

Here are some photos
it was a super special baptism. his wife´s brother gave the talk. he is a patriarch in another stake. it was a great talk he shared part of mosiah 18. he reminded me a lot of grandpa tibbitts. his son marcos baptized him. his other son william confirmed him on sunday. after the baptism he, his wife, and some others shared their testimonies. it was really special. they are all so happy. they will be sealed in 1year!!
I feel so blessed to be able to be involved. There were 2 musical numbers by grandkids too and one grandkid played the hymns we sung. They served empanadas and chicha after. I hate chicha but it was nice.

Phone call---- I can call you for 5 minutes on Dec 22 to set up a time for DEC 23 when YOU will call me and we can talk for an hour. CAn be any time of the day... let me know but please tell me what time i should cal bolivian time or else i´ll get confused with norway-uae-utah time. Skype should be ok I guess. I will call on DEC 22 from a payphone but you will call our house phone on the 23. is that all clear?

Sounds like busy times in abu dhabi... You should totally try to baptize the guy from tomball!

the trip to the salon was a little chaotic. I didn´t really get much done but she did cut in some pretty layers. I forgot to take a picture that day. I will try to this week if i do my hair.. rarely do anything other than a ponytail and a bun because i sweat as soon as i walk outside.

No the sisters dress standards did change a year ago but i guess not the whole world knew?? It was a surprise to hna. CAlderon´. so i don´t know. We have a DVD with suggested styles. I don´t really feel like buying more clothes other than what i need to replace.

Funny story... so the family we live with went out of town this weekend. They asked us to give water to the birds they have outside and to feed the betta fish. Actually the 16 year old daughter kind of just handed us the fish bowl and the water and said Chau . Anyways, so we put the fish inside our house. WE live on the 2nd floor and it is always super hot in the house. But we dind´t want to leave the fish outside because there are cats, even though it´s cooler on the patio. Sunday morning i fed the fish. Sunday night we came home and it was dead!!!! I¨m totally dreading tellin gthem that the fish died! I think it was from the heat. haha. We´re not supposed to have pets as missionaries but this was without wanting to !!

WE are hoping to have a baptism on the 24th christmas eve and the confirmation on christmas day. The investigator is Harold, he is 9, his parents are members, but it´s a little bit of a difficult situation, they aren´t super active. So we will see. They want an Elder to baptize him. He is ready just hope his parents don´t change their minds. harold is super funny. he wants to be baptized.

No i don´t have my DHL package yet. I have to pay 230 Bolivianos to get it now. That´s about 33 dollars. Don´t know if it is worth it. having tracee ask Ee chien what is in it.

I love each of you!! have a great week, and have a good trip to norway. that sounds fun. You should go to sweden and visit my convert Lars! Hahaha. I wish i knew if he was doing ok and going to church.

Just barely got to watch the e card. pretty funny, thanks!
Gotta go. Thanks fo ryour prayers!! Love Hna Tibbitts

Hello!
It´s been a great week! Been working hard.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!! How old? :P

The biggest news is that ANDRES is getting baptized! On the 10th of December!! WE had the greatest lesson EVER with him and his family last night. When we got there to do FHE we realized that we didn´t have much of a plan. Then I thought, why don´t we teach about teaching and learning in the gospel (lesson 5 in PMG). It was kind of random but we went with it. Then it was BOOM BOOM BOOM REvelations!! The spirit led us, it was so amazing, and we discussed with his family members too, they all contributed to the lesson, (his youngest daughters, twins, are 22). His oldest son that came was taking about the scripture in Mosiah 3:19 (the natural man is an enemy to God) and we were able to relate it to our progression here on the earth. Unless we are baptized, we hit a wall, and we can´t progress. When we are baptized the wall falls down. But then we hit another wall. That´s the temple. Once we go to the temple another wall falls down. Our purpose in life is to progress and make it to live with God!! It was amazing how the spirit led both me and my companion and the family members. Andres said that he had already decided he was going to get baptized, it was something that has been on his mind constantly.

Well our investigator Diego is not really progressing and we got a reference for a lady named Marlene, who seems really interested but doesn´t have a job and her baby is sick and she is single so she hasnt been to church yet. hopefully next week! same thing with Luis and Roxana. They want to be sure before going to church.

Well we had training on tuesday allll day long it was good though i learned a lot that i have been applying to the teaching. Also the other day i went to the offices and the customs office in the post office and finally got the package stuff worked out. I had to give my fingerprint a few times and sign stuff and leave copies of my passport, electrical bill, map to the house of the secretaries of the mission, etc. Now hopefully I get the package soon!

pleas,e please, please, stop being sick! didyou try any of the things i suggested for sicknesses?
glad you had a good thanksgiving all ofyou!
the primary program is over. yay, we don´t have to go to the practices anymore. they had them about every week night. cuts out a lot of time! they did a good job but it was a pretty boring primary program if you ask me. only 2 songs, a few kids spoke, and then the president gave a long talk.

this week the members in the house that we live in had a huge party monday night, for their daughter´s 16th birthday party, compete with flashing strobe lights and the most expensive DJ in santa cruz. They invited us down for a little bit, we felt sooo weird, haha, they let us eat some sushi and tacos (weird combination and the tacos were gross, cucumber and mayo??) and then we went upstairs to our room and danced in our pajamas and they played my favorite song from here just as i was brushing my teeth haha it was fun. there was music ALL NIGHT but we were able to sleep some thank goodness. The Chambi family is soo funny. Their daughter had gone to the salon and was all done up and in a short zebra dress. , they don´t teach her modesty.

Thursday, what did we do, I don´t even really remember, but i think we did eat chicken, but we eat chicken every day just about... we were gonna buy bread and make honey butter but we ran out of time. Christmas we´re gonna plan better!

Tanner- GOOD JOB on making honor roll! I´m proud of you!

Well, got to wrap this up, hope this week is better than the last, and i love youall!! The gospel is true and JESUS CHRIST LIVES!!

Hello, thanks for your letter and pictures!!! Sounds like you had a great trip and hope wyatt had a happpy birthday!!!
That sounds like a pretty cool place to go. Lots of driving though!! Eeeekk Glad you stayed safe too with the storm

Well let me tell you about the week... DENGUE!!! Yes, Hna. Larsen did end up having Dengue. It was awful!! We didn´t go out all week,, not even to church yesterday. Some brothers in the ward brought us the sacrament. It is a terrible awful no good sickness. Hna Larsen was so out of it. She basically just slept. She couldn´t do anything, I cleaned the whole house and washed her clothes and made her soup and chamomile tea when she wanted it. Ericka our pensionista brought us food everyday so that was nice.

What is dengue like??--- achy body, especially the back and neck, chills and fever, headache, nausea, just feeling lousy, basically. and no appetite to eat. I AM NEWLY COMMITTED TO NOT GET DENGUE!! It was not fun for Hna Larsen. (If you remember Hna Castro had it when i was with her too) Hna Larsen asked me a lot when she could take her next pill (I was in charge of the schedule). The only time she felt good was when she was asleep. ... thanks for your prayers for me and my companion!!

The good thing is that we have lots of work to catch up on now. We don´t really have any appointments but lots of people to call and look for. Should be a good week! Also there are transfers this Wednesday/Thursday. Don´t know what´s gonna happen, if hna larsen is going to stay or go.

Also Sandra´s baptism is scheduled for Saturday. We are really happy that we got her interview done last week before hna Larsen got sick. Sandra is so great, she is ready, I´m excited for her baptism.

I sent some photos from the confrence. It was a conference with 4 zones. The sisters in the other picture are the hermanas in my zone, Hna. Saire from La Paz and Hna Cruz from Guatemala, with Hna Calderon, Hna Pino, Hna Larsen, and me.

This week I got to read A LOT to pass the time. It was great. I learned a lot. I am about 1/2 way through Jesus the Christ. It´s really good! (I started it at the beginning of my mission, not this week haha). I also finished the BOM and started again and am reading lots in D adn C and the bible (John)... I love it all. I know the scritpures are true!!! I love Moroni 7 about faith, hope and charity. I felt like thats what i needed to learn this week from this experience of taking care of my companion. Love and charity. I was glad I was able to take care of her. She´s a great companion and I´ll be sad if she goes in the tranfers this week.

I also read in 1 nephi about Nephi and his brothers and all that! Where you went!!

Mom, thanks for the quotes. Hope you can do your goal! I know it will bless you a lot.

DAd- to reply about the language thing in your letter last week, it´s interesting, I still have to pray taht I can open my mouth and speak sometimes. I still struggle with the language sometimes, but I found that my attitude more than anything needs to be good so that i can talk and communicate with people and i am still understood if i make some mistakes. sometimes it´s hard because i feel like i should know more after all my years of study!! But the important part is that I am finding people to teach, and the spirit speaks to all in a way that they can understand.

Today I got Tracee´s package! The Elders laughed about what she wrote on it.
I have to go to the offices and to the post office/customs to get the package that was sent DHL: Can i make 2 requests of everyone that sends me packages??
1. Don´t use DHL. Regular mail is just fine. No need to pay extra, it´s really not as slow as you might think.
2. Please wrap the box in grocery bags or paper. That way I won´t get robbed. If they are just taped sometimes they are coming apart by the time I get them.

I love you all!!! Have a great week.
Love Hna Tibbitts
