hello family!!! Trying to send a bunch of funny pictures from this week.. .decided to carry around my camera this week and this is what we came up with.
haha you think i´m tan... I¨m still Choka here!! (choka is white.. or blond... to them i´m blond)
the family actually didn´t get mad about the fish... they said it was old and it was no big deal... a huge relief for us though!!
This week was good. Harold had his interview for the baptism. His dad wants him to get baptized by an Elder. So the Elder who interviewed him will baptize him. He is a choko from Utah which is what they want. haha.
We are looking for new investigators. We were teaching a lady named Sonia and she was really close to accepting a baptism date, but now she´s having problems in her family and is going to move to Argentina in january. so we dropped her. We found a few good people but just gotta wait and see!!
In one lesson, a lady told us that she didn´t attend a church, becuase she didn´t know which church was true... so we taught the restoration and she was amazed. With another lady, she said she would like to be a Christian (she was catholic), so what does she need to do to be a christian? pretty cool.
We are teaching a 13 year old girl and her family. She was a reference from a kid in the ward. She went to church yesterday and she was asking us what she has to do to be baptized. we need to get her mom on board though. But Rosalia is a sweet girl.
We got invited by an investigator family to their christmas champagne! hahah..
Andres and his family is doing great. I didn´t mention before that in the baptism a lot of it was video taped. one of the sons ¨`ïnterviewed^ us and asked us to share about what we were feeling, etc. He said he was going to make a DVD and make copies for us.. hopefully he comes thru!!
Sounds like you are all busy and having fun. I laughed a lot at that picture of boone! good job wyatt on the scout award. Sounds like fun in the primary. The primary presidency in this ward is really impatient. They yell at them a lot. We are acutally helping the kids with a song for christmas. They do primary weird here. They give each kid a songbook to sing and they have them write things in notebooks. i don´t get it.
My package is actually in the mission office... they want me to pay them to get it.. so i hope the assistants and presidente enjoy it! i could still pick it up still i guess though. now they´re telling me 280 bolivianos though.
Can´t wait to get my christmas packages!! Nothing yet.. but i did get a letter from my dear friend Pip from BYU! Who is now in Boston.... practically everyone i know is engaged or married! Boo!
CAlling----- I am planning to call you at about 2:00 bolivia time on thursday. hope that works for you!! turn up the ringer loud! don´t know what youll be doing the next day but sounds like h. hernandez wants to talk to her family at night because they work.We have 1 hour this time to talk!!!
Christmas.. is going to be weird here... it´s as hot as ever.... there are a few houses with lights and a few more with christmas trees but many don´t have anything. it´s weird, it doesn´t feel like christmas at all. I have a few christmas songs but i should have brought more christmas music with me. Oh well. Not sure what we´re going to do that day because President wants us to be home an hour earlier than usual and we can´t eat pork here, adn that´s about all that bolivians eat on christmas.
Thanks for all the encouraging things you say. I really need it sometimes.
I love you, each of you! Have fun in Norway and I¨ll talk to you in a few days!! Love Hna Tibbitts

ANDRES WAS BAPTIZED AND CONFIRMED A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH!!!
Here are some photos
it was a super special baptism. his wife´s brother gave the talk. he is a patriarch in another stake. it was a great talk he shared part of mosiah 18. he reminded me a lot of grandpa tibbitts. his son marcos baptized him. his other son william confirmed him on sunday. after the baptism he, his wife, and some others shared their testimonies. it was really special. they are all so happy. they will be sealed in 1year!!
I feel so blessed to be able to be involved. There were 2 musical numbers by grandkids too and one grandkid played the hymns we sung. They served empanadas and chicha after. I hate chicha but it was nice.
Phone call---- I can call you for 5 minutes on Dec 22 to set up a time for DEC 23 when YOU will call me and we can talk for an hour. CAn be any time of the day... let me know but please tell me what time i should cal bolivian time or else i´ll get confused with norway-uae-utah time. Skype should be ok I guess. I will call on DEC 22 from a payphone but you will call our house phone on the 23. is that all clear?
Sounds like busy times in abu dhabi... You should totally try to baptize the guy from tomball!
the trip to the salon was a little chaotic. I didn´t really get much done but she did cut in some pretty layers. I forgot to take a picture that day. I will try to this week if i do my hair.. rarely do anything other than a ponytail and a bun because i sweat as soon as i walk outside.
No the sisters dress standards did change a year ago but i guess not the whole world knew?? It was a surprise to hna. CAlderon´. so i don´t know. We have a DVD with suggested styles. I don´t really feel like buying more clothes other than what i need to replace.
Funny story... so the family we live with went out of town this weekend. They asked us to give water to the birds they have outside and to feed the betta fish. Actually the 16 year old daughter kind of just handed us the fish bowl and the water and said Chau . Anyways, so we put the fish inside our house. WE live on the 2nd floor and it is always super hot in the house. But we dind´t want to leave the fish outside because there are cats, even though it´s cooler on the patio. Sunday morning i fed the fish. Sunday night we came home and it was dead!!!! I¨m totally dreading tellin gthem that the fish died! I think it was from the heat. haha. We´re not supposed to have pets as missionaries but this was without wanting to !!
WE are hoping to have a baptism on the 24th christmas eve and the confirmation on christmas day. The investigator is Harold, he is 9, his parents are members, but it´s a little bit of a difficult situation, they aren´t super active. So we will see. They want an Elder to baptize him. He is ready just hope his parents don´t change their minds. harold is super funny. he wants to be baptized.
No i don´t have my DHL package yet. I have to pay 230 Bolivianos to get it now. That´s about 33 dollars. Don´t know if it is worth it. having tracee ask Ee chien what is in it.
I love each of you!! have a great week, and have a good trip to norway. that sounds fun. You should go to sweden and visit my convert Lars! Hahaha. I wish i knew if he was doing ok and going to church.
Just barely got to watch the e card. pretty funny, thanks!
Gotta go. Thanks fo ryour prayers!! Love Hna Tibbitts

Hello!
It´s been a great week! Been working hard.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!! How old? :P
The biggest news is that ANDRES is getting baptized! On the 10th of December!! WE had the greatest lesson EVER with him and his family last night. When we got there to do FHE we realized that we didn´t have much of a plan. Then I thought, why don´t we teach about teaching and learning in the gospel (lesson 5 in PMG). It was kind of random but we went with it. Then it was BOOM BOOM BOOM REvelations!! The spirit led us, it was so amazing, and we discussed with his family members too, they all contributed to the lesson, (his youngest daughters, twins, are 22). His oldest son that came was taking about the scripture in Mosiah 3:19 (the natural man is an enemy to God) and we were able to relate it to our progression here on the earth. Unless we are baptized, we hit a wall, and we can´t progress. When we are baptized the wall falls down. But then we hit another wall. That´s the temple. Once we go to the temple another wall falls down. Our purpose in life is to progress and make it to live with God!! It was amazing how the spirit led both me and my companion and the family members. Andres said that he had already decided he was going to get baptized, it was something that has been on his mind constantly.
Well our investigator Diego is not really progressing and we got a reference for a lady named Marlene, who seems really interested but doesn´t have a job and her baby is sick and she is single so she hasnt been to church yet. hopefully next week! same thing with Luis and Roxana. They want to be sure before going to church.
Well we had training on tuesday allll day long it was good though i learned a lot that i have been applying to the teaching. Also the other day i went to the offices and the customs office in the post office and finally got the package stuff worked out. I had to give my fingerprint a few times and sign stuff and leave copies of my passport, electrical bill, map to the house of the secretaries of the mission, etc. Now hopefully I get the package soon!
pleas,e please, please, stop being sick! didyou try any of the things i suggested for sicknesses?
glad you had a good thanksgiving all ofyou!
the primary program is over. yay, we don´t have to go to the practices anymore. they had them about every week night. cuts out a lot of time! they did a good job but it was a pretty boring primary program if you ask me. only 2 songs, a few kids spoke, and then the president gave a long talk.
this week the members in the house that we live in had a huge party monday night, for their daughter´s 16th birthday party, compete with flashing strobe lights and the most expensive DJ in santa cruz. They invited us down for a little bit, we felt sooo weird, haha, they let us eat some sushi and tacos (weird combination and the tacos were gross, cucumber and mayo??) and then we went upstairs to our room and danced in our pajamas and they played my favorite song from here just as i was brushing my teeth haha it was fun. there was music ALL NIGHT but we were able to sleep some thank goodness. The Chambi family is soo funny. Their daughter had gone to the salon and was all done up and in a short zebra dress. , they don´t teach her modesty.
Thursday, what did we do, I don´t even really remember, but i think we did eat chicken, but we eat chicken every day just about... we were gonna buy bread and make honey butter but we ran out of time. Christmas we´re gonna plan better!
Tanner- GOOD JOB on making honor roll! I´m proud of you!
Well, got to wrap this up, hope this week is better than the last, and i love youall!! The gospel is true and JESUS CHRIST LIVES!!
love HNA TIBBITTS

Hello, thanks for your letter and pictures!!! Sounds like you had a great trip and hope wyatt had a happpy birthday!!!
That sounds like a pretty cool place to go. Lots of driving though!! Eeeekk Glad you stayed safe too with the storm
Well let me tell you about the week... DENGUE!!! Yes, Hna. Larsen did end up having Dengue. It was awful!! We didn´t go out all week,, not even to church yesterday. Some brothers in the ward brought us the sacrament. It is a terrible awful no good sickness. Hna Larsen was so out of it. She basically just slept. She couldn´t do anything, I cleaned the whole house and washed her clothes and made her soup and chamomile tea when she wanted it. Ericka our pensionista brought us food everyday so that was nice.
What is dengue like??--- achy body, especially the back and neck, chills and fever, headache, nausea, just feeling lousy, basically. and no appetite to eat. I AM NEWLY COMMITTED TO NOT GET DENGUE!! It was not fun for Hna Larsen. (If you remember Hna Castro had it when i was with her too) Hna Larsen asked me a lot when she could take her next pill (I was in charge of the schedule). The only time she felt good was when she was asleep. ... thanks for your prayers for me and my companion!!
The good thing is that we have lots of work to catch up on now. We don´t really have any appointments but lots of people to call and look for. Should be a good week! Also there are transfers this Wednesday/Thursday. Don´t know what´s gonna happen, if hna larsen is going to stay or go.
Also Sandra´s baptism is scheduled for Saturday. We are really happy that we got her interview done last week before hna Larsen got sick. Sandra is so great, she is ready, I´m excited for her baptism.
I sent some photos from the confrence. It was a conference with 4 zones. The sisters in the other picture are the hermanas in my zone, Hna. Saire from La Paz and Hna Cruz from Guatemala, with Hna Calderon, Hna Pino, Hna Larsen, and me.
This week I got to read A LOT to pass the time. It was great. I learned a lot. I am about 1/2 way through Jesus the Christ. It´s really good! (I started it at the beginning of my mission, not this week haha). I also finished the BOM and started again and am reading lots in D adn C and the bible (John)... I love it all. I know the scritpures are true!!! I love Moroni 7 about faith, hope and charity. I felt like thats what i needed to learn this week from this experience of taking care of my companion. Love and charity. I was glad I was able to take care of her. She´s a great companion and I´ll be sad if she goes in the tranfers this week.
I also read in 1 nephi about Nephi and his brothers and all that! Where you went!!
Mom, thanks for the quotes. Hope you can do your goal! I know it will bless you a lot.
DAd- to reply about the language thing in your letter last week, it´s interesting, I still have to pray taht I can open my mouth and speak sometimes. I still struggle with the language sometimes, but I found that my attitude more than anything needs to be good so that i can talk and communicate with people and i am still understood if i make some mistakes. sometimes it´s hard because i feel like i should know more after all my years of study!! But the important part is that I am finding people to teach, and the spirit speaks to all in a way that they can understand.
Today I got Tracee´s package! The Elders laughed about what she wrote on it.
I have to go to the offices and to the post office/customs to get the package that was sent DHL: Can i make 2 requests of everyone that sends me packages??
1. Don´t use DHL. Regular mail is just fine. No need to pay extra, it´s really not as slow as you might think.
2. Please wrap the box in grocery bags or paper. That way I won´t get robbed. If they are just taped sometimes they are coming apart by the time I get them.
I love you all!!! Have a great week.

One year Anniversary!!!
CAMBIOS!!! I am still in belen with... guess it... HNA HERNANDEZ!! Yes, again! Very unexpected but i am happy. We were only separated 6 weeks. I¨m so excited! Hna Hernandez ROCKS! and we are working hard and will continue to. I guess Presidente doesn´t want me to get to know other hermanas very well, becuase he keeps putting me with the same ones! haha. Some of my favorite elders in the zone left, and I¨m sad... booo cambios
Hna Larsen is still in my zone but in another ward. So I still get to see her twice a week! She is feeling lots better too so that´s good. Her comp is Hna Cruz, the guatemalan sister.
i CAN´T BELIEVE I´VE BEEN ON THE MISSION 1 YEAR! I feel OLD! But it´s been a great year. Just like you said, this has been a great opportunity for me to learn and grow. I am really happy now on the mission, i feel like the hard part is over and from now on it´s just going to be more fun and spiritually stretching.
I didn´t really do anything to celebrate that day. Was going to but ran out of time. The next day a member bought us a 2 liter bottle of coke that we had to drink all of it between the 3 of us. He only drank 2 little glasses then left us. Haha, that was funny. We were struggling to finish it. It´s a reuseable bottle he bought so that's why. That day we were also given Mocochinchi, Chicha, Lima, and Tampico. We were about to burst when we got home!
Well we were supposed to have Sandra´s baptism this weekend, but she moved!! So she will be baptized in her new ward. She moved back in with her family (she was renting a room close to her boyfriend but she can´t afford it now).
Mom, you sound like superwoman. way to be involved in so many things. You are a great example of service I am sure so many people are grateful.
Family, please stop getting sick!!! Glad you have been to the Dr. and gotten the medicines you need. I realized I have picked up some Bolivian habits when it comes to my health. I try not to drink too much cold water, if I feel like i´m getting sick I drink hot lemonade (limes put in the blender) with honey, and try not to sleep with the fan on. If my stomach hurts I like to drink chamomile tea... pretty funny huh. I also bought an old fashioned water bottle for my stomach. Warm water and salt is good too for the throat. But these things work! Try it out if you like!
We have a few new investigators now that are really great, one of them is Andres, he is older, his wife and all of his 6 or 7 kids are members. They have all been to the temple too, and he has a testimony, but is afraid of being baptized and messing up after. We had a lesson with his wife, 2 of his kids and their wives, and it was super special. He wants to have an eternal family. He knows it´s what he needs to do. Trying to help him with this fear that he has. He is a super sweet guy. He offered us hamburgers and tampico and coca cola- too much! And one night he paid for our taxi to take us home.
We are also teaching a guy named Diego, his grandma Irma is a member and he recently moved into the house across the street (Irma´s daughter´s house.). He is really great, he is about 20 and wants to learn, but says he used to go to a christian church and he really liked it, the dancing and singing-loud stuff. He said he felt weird when he went to the LDS church. Hopefully we can help him understand! He had some problems with Word of wisdom too in the past so we will try to help him.
We visited a lot of members this week when Hna Hernandez arrived, so she coud get to know the ward. It´s been really fun! That´s one of my favorite parts of the mission. Being with the members and establishing relationships with them. Also I helped a couple times with the Primary kids, they are preparing to sing in sacrament meeting (Child´s prayer) and needed a pianist. One day their leaders didn´t show up so we just taught them! It was super fun. I think most all Bolivians are tone deaf though.
My convert Hugo is doing goood, he gave us a really good reference today, but Corina and Alejandro haven't been going to church, and we can´t find her at home. Hope she is doing ok! Shirley is doing great too. Her son has to have another operation this week, this time for his head. Pray for little Bennji! We thought he was close to gettin out of the hospital but it appears it will be a while still.
Oh tracee, I forgot, I really liked the package! Thanks! I was so excited get it!! The clothes didnt´t fit me though, they are super huge!!! Did you think i got fat? Cause i´m not!
Cross your fingers I can get the Dhl package from my friend. if i don´t get it by the end of the month they´re gonna destroy it!! eeeek.
I love you all. Keep being good. Do you want anything from Bolivia for Christmas?? Have a great week and trynot to get sick anymore!! How is your preach my gospel reading going??
Love Hna Tibbitts

November 7
Wow, what a week, well, Halloween came and went, some people celebrated it here, it´s kind of a fad thing because it´s american, some people really don´t like it. I got a package from Malia Pruitt with candy 2 days later, so that was really nice, also she included some halloween tissues and glow sticks. For Halloween I was Hna. Larsen and she was me. We switched name tags... :) we told people we were dressed up and they didn´t get it at first.. hah.
Shirley´s baptism went great! She was laughing when she came out of the water!! She was really happy.A lot of members came to support her. Her grandma gave her testimony and it was really special. After we went to her house and her grandma served us cake. When we were walking there it started pouring rain!! We didn´t get too wet but her grandma made us change shirts and she gave us towels to put over our heads because it was still raining when we went home. We are excited because Shirley´s baby had surgery, and it went well, and he will come home in 2 weeks!!! The sad part is that she doesn´t have anything for this baby, only one bottle. We told the RS president that it would be good to have a baby shower for her. Hno. Menacho baptized her. He is the husband of Ericka, our pensionista. I don´t know why she´s not in any of these pictures.
Saturday Hna Larsen was sick all day, we only went to the baptism and to eat cake after. Sunday she started feeling bad too. She slept all morning, I almost didn´t think we would be able to come to internet. Her whole body hurts, especially her back, she says she´s never felt this kind of pain before. I´m afraid its... dun dun dun.. dengue! I hope not!!! please Pray for my poor companion!! I don´t know why this keeps happening, it feels like we are always struggling with our health this cambio. But I know the Lord always has a reason. Hope you alll feel better soon too.. no fun to be sick.
Day of the dead... people here go to the cemetery and visit their dead family members.. dad, mom, grandma, brother, etc. They eat their favorite foods ther ein the cemetery (not everyone but some). that´s about it.
we ate shwaerma and falafel in the fidalga the other day! it´s a mall type place with a food court. it was good, and hna larsen really like dit, it was the first time to try it for her.
My eyes;;; have not bothered me at all this week. Maybe it was just stress?? I don´t know, I might still have them checked but i dont know. will seee what happens.
Christmas::: I don´t know what else... some mascara? i can´t find any good mascara here... umm... I don´t know. Whatever you think.
Sandra, our investigator, is ready for baptism. She had her interview yesterday, but sadly her baptism isn´t until the 19th. She goes out of town every other weekend for work, so we just decided to get it done early and get it out of the way. Today is her birthday, she is turning 21. Her boyfriend is a member of the ward and is like 35. Kind of weird, he wants to get married but she doesn´t. Whatever, the important part is that she has a testimony of the gospel and she wants to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized.
have a fun vacation!! Wish i was there!!! But glad i am here.
love you all. be good! Hna. Tibbitts

October 31
Hello, how are you all, I¨m doing ok, this week was kind of hard because both of us got alittle sick, but we are better now, still recovering alittle bit, but that´s just how it is. IT HAS BEEN SO HOT!!! and then yesterday it rained. now it´s hot again.
the pictures attached are Nefi, age 3, and Paul, age 6. They are the brothers of the baby Lehí that was just born.. picture of the baby is in the other email. Their mom is Seluti and she is a recent convert- she wanted to get baptized for a long time but her husband had to get divorced to marry her, so that´s how they have a 3 year old named Nefi. They´re a g reat family.
We weren´t able to have Shirley´s baptism this week, becuase she had to work on sunday, and her confirmation has to be in sacrament meeting, so it will be this saturday. Hooray!! Shirley is so great and ready.
We lost track of Jose CArlos, and SAndra is really hard to find now because she is traveling constantly for her work, but we will keep working and looking!!
There is a family in the ward and they let us have FHE with them every monday night, and we bring investigators, last week we decided to make the treats and we made mud cups, actually Ericka our pensionista made the pudding and we brought the oreo and worms, it really surprised some of them! But it was a hit. I guess we had halloween early...
Last monday we had an activity as a zone with the zone Paraiso, my last zone, so i got to see Hna hernandez and she told me that Lars got baptized!! Remember the guy from Sweden we were teaching!! I AM SO HAPPY!!! Also another investigator, Nicole, got baptized.. we were about ready to give up on her! So in total that is 5 baptisms for me in october between the 2 areas. Yesss!!
What else... so the prophet made a decision for the missionaries all around the world, and it is that all missionaries can have DVD players in our houses!!! WE got ours the other day. It is a little portable DVD player.WE only have 1 DVD to watch. So... that´s my christmas idea mom! DVD´s... we can only watch DVDs from the church though. Ones that have the church logo on the case. I want the video for the REstoration, and whatever others you want to send. Finding faith in christ would be good. Just make sure you get the version with other languages on it for spanish.
we went to part of the ward relief society´s party for the birthdays of the sisters. Very different from a party in the USA. All the women were dancing!! They had a dance contest.. then ate cake. We had to go home before eating cake though!!
Well even though this week was hard i am happy. i am doing the Lord´s work, and that makes me happy, to be an instrument in his hands, and I know that the gospel message is true, i want to do all that i can to share it.
Going to the mission office later becuase i have a package that is stuck in customs that was sent by DHL.... don´t use DHL in the future please!
Ok so... my companion thinks i need glasses. I have been having a hard time reading in my personal study in the mornings, i get headaches if i read for very long. Do i need reading glasses?? I think so...
I think i can get a free exam here. But does our insurance cover that kind of stuff? although its probably cheap here.. i dont know. what should i do?
Sounds like a lot of fun stuff going on in your lives!!
Keep your grades up brothers!!
I am praying for Grandpa T and Melissa.. I had no idea that stuff was going on!
Have a fun trip to Oman!!! .. and trip to London!
Love you all..
Have a great week! Love Hermana Tibbitts
